ICC Albania in cooperation with the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) and the United Nations in Albania organized on the 24th of May 2018 a workshop on the Sustainable Development Goals – part of the UN Agenda 2030.
The private sector has an important role in the implementation of the SDGs in Albania as the Agenda 2030 creates market opportunities that could guide and support investments in achieving the sustainable development goals through the activity of the local and foreign companies operating in the market and accounting for more than 80 percent of the gross domestic production, and enhancing their competitiveness. Businesses as a crucial contributor to the Albanian economy play a vital role by joining the efforts on achieving the SDGs.
This is attained through at least three main channels:
- Participation and collaboration in the national process of achieving the SDGs
- Directly contributing in achieving specific and relevant SDG targets
- Using the SDG framework as an opportunity and important vehicle to transform business operations
